Just when Summer Bay’s wedding drought seemed like it might finally end, Home and Away is preparing to throw a spanner in the works — and it comes from a direction absolutely nobody was expecting.
After a year with more broken engagements than actual weddings, spoilers suggest 2027 will bring Mackenzie (Emily Weir) and Levi (Tristan Gorey) down the aisle at last. But before fans get too comfortable, a returning ex, a secret child, and a shocking confession of buried feelings are about to turn their happy ending into anything but a straightforward one.
The Year Summer Bay Forgot How to Get Married
If you’ve noticed something missing from Summer Bay in 2026, you’re not imagining it — there hasn’t been a single wedding all year, making it the first time since 1998 that nobody’s walked down the aisle.
It’s a startling break from tradition. Weddings have practically been a yearly ritual in the Bay, from Cash and Eden tying the knot in 2025, to Leah and Justin’s 2024 nuptials, to the milestone Tane and Felicity wedding that marked the show’s 8000th episode in 2023. Even 2018 managed a double celebration with Colby and Chelsea, plus Brody and Ziggy.
This year, though, it’s been nothing but heartbreak. Jo (Maddison Brown) accepted Eddie’s (Stephen Madsen) proposal after the train crash that closed out 2025 — only to call it off once she learned the truth about how she was really rescued. Then Dana (Ally Harris) proposed to Sonny (Ryan Bown) in August, complete with an engagement party and wedding planning, before the pair split just this week as Dana left town with her sister Harper.
So it’s little wonder fans are desperate for some good news — and it looks like Mac and Levi might finally deliver it.
An Engagement Confirmed — But Trouble’s Already Brewing
A photo taken during filming on 19th August, shared in the Home and Away Spoilers & Info Facebook group, appears to confirm the happy news: Emily Weir was spotted on set wearing an engagement ring, all but confirming that Mac and Levi are set to get engaged in 2027.
But if you think this is going to be smooth sailing, think again. As we reported last month, the couple’s relationship is about to be rocked by the return of Levi’s ex-wife, Imogen (Georgia Blizzard) — and she’s not coming back alone.
Imogen’s Secret
Levi and Imogen’s marriage ended around two years ago, after Levi fell for Mackenzie while treating her heart condition at Northern Districts Hospital. It’s worth remembering that Levi had never wanted children with Imogen — yet last year, he and Mac began trying for a baby together, eventually turning to IVF when Mac struggled to conceive. Tragically, she suffered two miscarriages, and the couple still haven’t found a way to talk about whether to try again.
Against that painful backdrop, Imogen’s return couldn’t be timed more cruelly. She’s set to arrive back in Summer Bay with a young girl who appears to be around two years old — and footage has already shown Levi interacting with the child on the beach. New footage filmed on the same day as the engagement photo shows just how much this bombshell rattles Mac. In a tense scene with close friend Tane (Ethan Browne), she doesn’t hold back her frustration.
“You know it’s so easy for her to just waltz in here and tell me… family. How is any of this fair on me?” she vents.
Strangely, Tane seems distracted and short with her — a detail that becomes a lot more significant later on. When Mac presses him, asking what she was supposed to do, “tell Levi and just get over it?”, Tane responds with something cutting enough that Mac reels back with a stunned “Excuse me?”
She tries to explain herself — “I am! I mean I’m trying to, but it’s very hard” — before giving up entirely: “I’m not doing this…” Tane simply walks away, leaving Mac alone and shaken on the balcony.

Despite the devastating news about Levi’s daughter, it seems the relationship survives this first hurdle — scenes filmed just last week show Mac still planning her wedding to Levi. A Seven-Year-Old Secret Resurfaces
Long-time fans will remember that this isn’t the first time Mac and Tane have danced around feelings for each other. Back in 2020, when Mac was first dating Ari Parata, she developed a crush on his brother Tane that nearly derailed their relationship altogether. The pair even shared a kiss in 2021, during a drunken rebound after Ari ended things with Mac — though Tane, who was with Ziggy at the time, pushed her away and immediately confessed to Ziggy what had happened.
Since then, the two have settled into a solid friendship, with barely a hint of old feelings resurfacing — until now.
In a scene filmed last week, Mac chases after Tane, stopping him as he tries to walk away from her. “What are you doing? You said you’d try…” she says, clearly confused by his behaviour.
When she realises what he’s actually saying — that he wants out of standing by her side at her wedding — she’s floored. “What are you saying? That you’re gonna pull out of my wedding?”
Tane confirms it, struggling to explain: “I can’t… Everything’s changed, alright? I can’t stand beside you at your wedding and put on a happy face!”
“Why? Why not?” Mac demands.
And then comes the confession nobody saw coming: “Because I have feelings for you! I have feelings for you, okay?”
