Coronation Street’s Sam Blakeman Heads Down a Dangerous Path
Some secrets can only be kept for so long, and on Coronation Street, Sam Blakeman’s has finally come out. The troubled teen, played by Jude Riordan, has admitted what he did to his aunt Eva Price, and the fallout is already shaking the Platt and Tilsley families.
Just weeks ago, Sam was released from a psychiatric ward after being diagnosed with schizophrenia following a severe psychotic breakdown. For a family trying to rebuild, this was meant to be a fresh start. Instead, it has turned into something much darker.
How Sam’s Mental Health Unravelled
Sam’s decline began when he discovered that PE teacher Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) was grooming his classmate Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). The shock of that discovery took a heavy toll. Soon Sam was experiencing distressing hallucinations, including visions of Will and a hostile, imaginary version of his close friend Roy Cropper (David Neilson), who urged him to take revenge on his enemies.

Coming home hasn’t been easy. Sam has been dealing with the stigma around his diagnosis. Uncle David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) was hesitant about letting him hold his newborn cousin, and dad Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) has at times held back from using the right words around his son, afraid of pushing him away.
The Day Everything Went Wrong
After his phone was confiscated, Sam became determined to get it back. The device was last seen in the Rovers, and when he found the pub closed for the day, he let himself in to search for it.
Then he heard a noise from the cellar. When he went closer, his aunt Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) asked what he was doing there. Panicking, Sam pushed her backwards, and she fell down the staircase.
An investigation followed, and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) was hauled in for questioning. Sam, wracked with guilt, watched an innocent man being driven away in a police car. With no evidence against Carl, the police had nothing to hold him on.
A Hospital Visit Nobody Expected
Later that day, Sam went to the hospital to see Eva. The sight of him triggered a memory, and she asked him outright whether he was the one who pushed her.
In today’s episode, it became clear that Eva had chosen not to tell her partner, Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), the truth. That makes things tense, because Ben was vowing to kill whoever attacked her, and Sam stood nervously by as he listened.
The Truth Comes Out
Eva then gathered her sisters, Leanne and Toyah Battersby (Jane Danson and Georgia Taylor), at the pub and told them what had happened the day before. They were stunned. When the news reached Nick, he struggled to believe his son could do such a thing.

A Second Bombshell
Having come clean about the cellar, Sam had another admission to make. The reason he was so desperate to find his phone was that he had invested £6,200 in cryptocurrency.
The parents were baffled about how a teenager could have afforded that. Sam then admitted he had used his dad’s identity.
What Happens Next?
With one family member hurt, an innocent man dragged into it, and thousands of pounds gone, Sam’s family faces some very hard questions. How do you hold a vulnerable young person accountable while also making sure he gets the support he needs? And how will Ben react if he learns who was behind the attack on Eva?
