A Wedding Drought Is About to Break — But Not Without Chaos First
Summer Bay has gone an entire year without a single “I do.” Not since 1998 has the fictional coastal town gone twelve months without a wedding on the sand, and 2026 has been no exception to the trend of near-misses. Two engagements, two heartbreaking collapses — first Jo and Eddie, then Dana and Sonny — have left fans wondering if anyone in the Bay will ever actually make it down the aisle again.
Enter Mackenzie Booth and Levi Canning.
Set photos captured on 19th August show Emily Weir filming with an engagement ring firmly on her finger, all but confirming that Levi is finally set to pop the question. After everything Mackenzie has endured — heartbreak, loss, and years of watching everyone around her walk down the aisle while her own love life stayed frustratingly unresolved — it should be a moment of pure joy.
Except, this being Summer Bay, nothing is ever that simple.

Imogen’s Return Threatens to Blow Everything Apart
Just as Mac and Levi’s future looks set, in walks Levi’s ex-wife Imogen — and she’s not alone. A young girl, believed to be around two years old, has been spotted with her in newly filmed scenes, and Levi himself was seen interacting warmly with the child on the beach.
The implication is impossible to ignore. Levi and Imogen’s marriage ended around two years ago, right around the time he fell for Mackenzie while treating her heart condition at Northern Districts Hospital. Back then, Levi wasn’t ready for fatherhood with Imogen. Painfully, he and Mackenzie have since tried for a baby of their own, enduring two devastating miscarriages along the way — a wound that’s clearly still raw, since the couple haven’t even found the words to discuss trying again.
So imagine Mackenzie’s devastation if it turns out Imogen was secretly pregnant when she and Levi split, and has spent two years raising his child without him ever knowing.
It’s the kind of gut-punch reveal that could unravel even the strongest relationship — and Mackenzie doesn’t hold back her fury. In one newly filmed scene, she vents to best friend Tane about Imogen’s return, snapping: “You know it’s so easy for her to just waltz in here… How is any of this fair on me?”
But there’s something off about Tane’s response. He’s distant. Cold. Almost disinterested — and it leaves Mackenzie visibly rattled, checking whether he’s even listening to her at all.
Viewers won’t have to wait long to find out why.
Tane’s Bombshell: “I Have Feelings for You”
Despite the shock of Imogen’s secret child, it appears Mackenzie doesn’t call off her wedding plans. Filming from last week shows she’s still moving full steam ahead with Levi — which makes what happens next even more explosive.
Tane, Mackenzie’s closest friend for years, suddenly announces he can’t be part of the wedding at all.
“I can’t stand beside you at your wedding and put on a happy face!” he tells her, stopping her in her tracks.
When a stunned Mackenzie demands to know why, Tane finally says the words nobody saw coming:

“Because I have feelings for you! I have feelings for you, okay?”

For long-time viewers, this isn’t entirely out of nowhere. Rewind to 2020 and 2021, and Mackenzie and Tane’s history is more complicated than it first appears. Back when Mac was dating his brother Ari, sparks flew between her and Tane, nearly derailing that relationship altogether. The pair even shared a drunken kiss in 2021 — though Tane, who was with Ziggy at the time, quickly pulled away and confessed everything to her.
Since then? Years of nothing but friendship. Tane went on to marry Felicity, welcome a baby with Harper, and briefly date newcomer Jo. Mackenzie, meanwhile, dated Logan Bennett before finally settling into what seemed like her happy ending with Levi.
Now, seven years later, those old feelings are apparently resurfacing at the worst possible moment.
“Please, Don’t Say This” — Mackenzie’s Desperate Plea
Rattled and clearly not ready to hear it, Mackenzie tries to shut Tane down immediately. “Please, don’t do this. Don’t say this, don’t say this. Don’t!” she begs — but the damage is already done. Words like that can’t simply be unsaid.
When Mackenzie asks what on earth she’s supposed to tell Levi, Tane’s parting shot is as cutting as it is telling: “You’re good at that” — a jab implying she’s no stranger to hiding the truth.
He walks away, leaving Mackenzie alone and shellshocked. Later that same day, filming shows Tane sitting alone at the beach before Mackenzie approaches him again — suggesting this conversation is far from over.
So… Will Mac and Levi Actually Make It Down the Aisle?
With a secret child bombshell on one side and a long-buried confession of love on the other, Mackenzie’s road to marriage in 2027 looks anything but smooth. Could grief over the miscarriages and the sting of Levi’s secret past with Imogen push Mackenzie straight into Tane’s arms? Or will she stay loyal to Levi and finally get the wedding Summer Bay has been missing all year?
These scenes are expected to air in early 2027, so fans will have a wait ahead of them — but one thing’s for certain: this is shaping up to be one of the Bay’s most dramatic storylines in years.
What do you think — should Mackenzie give Tane a chance, or is this confession coming far too late? Let us know in the comments!
