Summer Bay is buzzing with gossip, and this time it’s all about David and Dr. Amelia. What started as a simple doctor-patient relationship has spiralled into something much bigger — and everyone in David’s life seems to have noticed before he did.
It began when Amelia made a tough call: she told David she couldn’t be his doctor anymore, admitting that “too many lines” had been crossed between them. David, caught off guard, asked if they could at least stay friends. But behind the polite exchange, something deeper was clearly simmering.
Jo, David’s sharp-eyed daughter, was the first to pick up on the tension. She noticed how involved Amelia had become in her dad’s recovery — driving him to counselling, keeping secrets, and acting oddly defensive whenever his name came up. When Jo raised her suspicions with her sister Lacey, the two came to the same conclusion: their dad might be falling for his doctor.
David, naturally, brushed it off. He insisted there was nothing going on, growing increasingly irritated every time someone brought it up. But his denial didn’t stop Jo from confronting Amelia directly, point-blank asking if she had feelings for her father. Amelia, flustered, refused to give a straight answer.
Meanwhile, life in the Bay carried on. Eden, Mac, and the girls plotted an extravagant girls’ trip while the boys were away — complete with champagne, a night out, and a full spa day. It was meant to be a fun distraction, but even amid the celebrations, the whispers about David and Amelia followed the group everywhere.
Justin, David’s close friend, finally decided enough was enough. He sat David down and asked him outright whether there was anything between him and Amelia. David denied it again — but the more he protested, the harder it became to ignore the obvious tension whenever Amelia’s name came up.
The truth finally came out when Amelia sat David down at Salt for what was meant to be a casual chat. Nervous and unsure how to start, she eventually admitted it herself: she has romantic feelings for him. She was honest about the risk, telling him she understood if he wasn’t ready — and that she feared it might be the worst thing that ever happened between them.
David was left reeling. Even his own daughters had figured it out before he had. In a raw counselling session, he admitted he felt disappointed in himself and confused about what to do next. When his counsellor gently pushed him to consider whether he felt the same way about Amelia, David deflected, insisting he wasn’t ready to let go of his late wife’s memory.
That’s when things took an emotional turn with Lacey. When she found out how long David had known about Amelia’s feelings, she was hurt he hadn’t told her — and admitted that the idea of her dad dating again felt like a betrayal to her mother’s memory. David, choked with emotion, could only ask what his late wife would have wanted for him — a question that left both of them heartbroken.
So where does this leave David and Amelia? Is he ready to open his heart again, or will guilt over his late wife keep him stuck in the past? One thing’s for sure — Summer Bay isn’t done talking about this yet.
