Some days in Summer Bay start with sunshine and surf. Other days start with a bag on your doorstep and a secret you never asked for. This week, the Bay got both. One man arrives with a lie he can’t hold in, and one old friendship cracks over a secret that was kept too long.

The Brother Nobody Expected

Sonny’s life has been messy for a while, so a surprise visitor was the last thing he needed. But when a familiar voice rings out at the door, his face says it all.

It’s his younger brother, Dylan. He’s standing there with a bag in his hand and a grin that says he’s got no plan to leave.

“I’m here to stay,” Dylan announces. “For a holiday.”

Sonny is happy but also confused. He had no warning. Dylan waves it off with easy charm. He says he’s on a break from his engineering job out west, and that he was supposed to be in Bali, but thought it would be fun to see what Summer Bay is all about.

He seems like the perfect guy, and that’s the problem.

Golden Boy vs. The Problem Child

Over breakfast and drinks, the brothers fall back into their old roles. Dylan tells everyone how proud their parents are of him. Sonny cracks jokes about his brother’s school medals and his own suspension letters.

Dylan is the “chosen one.” Sonny is the one who couldn’t stay out of trouble.

It all sounds like harmless sibling teasing until it isn’t. When Lacey shows up at Salt and meets Dylan for the first time, the banter gets sharper. She is a little surprised that Sonny never mentioned a brother. Dylan keeps smiling, but Sonny keeps a close eye on him.

There’s a small spark in the air too. Lacey watches Dylan a bit longer than she needs to.

Then the jokes go too far. Sonny finally snaps and tells Dylan he hates being called the chosen one. Dylan, who has been laughing the whole time, goes quiet. He tells his brother that being the golden boy is not as easy as it looks. Every move he made was tracked against a five-year plan, and he never got to choose anything for himself.

Then comes the real shock.

The Confession

Dylan admits that he isn’t in Western Australia. He doesn’t have the perfect job or the perfect life. As far as their parents know, he is still doing everything right.

But he isn’t. And he needs Sonny to cover for him.

“Just promise me you won’t tell them,” he says.

Sonny is left stunned. He has spent years being the one who got blamed for everything. Now the golden boy wants him to join in on a lie.

David Finds Out About Richie

While Sonny’s family is falling apart, another bond is breaking across town.

David walks up to Leah and Justin’s door expecting a normal visit. Instead, Richie opens it. He’s wearing the face of someone who knows he’s in trouble.

Richie says he lives there now. David is shocked. Richie apologises and says he is sorry for what happened with Harper and Archie leaving. David isn’t ready to listen. “Sorry doesn’t cut it,” he says.

But Richie isn’t really the problem. David is angry at Leah and Justin for keeping it from him. He calls it gutless, and he says he doesn’t trust them anymore.

David sets his rules. He won’t go near their house while Richie lives there. And he wants Richie to stay far away from him and his family.

At home, Leah and Justin try to pretend things are fine. Leah says David took it okay. Justin says it might just need time. Then a friend tells Justin that what they did was thoughtless. David is one of his closest friends and still dealing with what Richie did.

Leah takes the blame. It was her idea to help Richie. Justin thinks about asking him to leave, but Leah reminds him of the promise they made. In the end they decide to help Richie get back on his feet first. Then they will try to repair things with David.

It sounds like a plan. But with David hurting, can it really work?

A Heart Still Missing Archie

Not everyone in the Bay is coping well with the fallout. At beach boot camp, one of the locals pushes his trainees hard. He barks orders, makes everyone start over if someone drops, and doesn’t let anyone take a break.

His friends see what is happening. He is missing little Archie. Saying goodbye to the boy was painful, and he can’t stop thinking about it.

His friends try to cheer him up with a six-week work anniversary celebration and a night out. They tease him about every job he quit before. It works for a moment. But the pain is still there.

A Quiet Moment for Jo’s Family

Back at home, Jo has her own change to deal with. Her dad asked Amelia to stay over, and Jo wasn’t expecting it.

At first it feels awkward. But later, she tells Amelia she is happy to see someone looking after her dad. It’s a small step, and a sweet one.

Then Jo asks a hard question. She’s heard talk at the hospital that Levi is ready to return to work. Amelia has been covering his shift. What will happen to her now?

Amelia doesn’t know yet.

What Happens Next?

By the end of the episode, three things are hanging in the air. Dylan’s lie is still a secret, but it won’t stay one for long. David and his closest friends are standing on opposite sides of a very big line. And Amelia’s job may be about to change.

The biggest question is Dylan. If he isn’t who he says he is, why did he really come to Summer Bay? And how long can Sonny keep a secret that could blow up his whole family?

Summer Bay never stays quiet for long. Stay tuned.
