Summer Bay is bracing for goodbyes, breakdowns, and broken plans — and this week’s drama proves nobody in the Bay is having an easy time of it.

Let’s start with Richie Breslin, whose search for a second chance keeps hitting dead ends. Desperate for a reference to land a security job, Richie turns to Cash — but the answer is a brutal no.

“Richie was full of potential until he shot his boss,” Cash snaps, refusing to sugarcoat what happened.

Abby is furious at Cash’s cruelty, defending her friend fiercely: “He is trying to put his life back together and you’re just being cruel.” But Cash’s frustration isn’t really about hatred — it’s about disappointment. Even Rory, the man Richie accidentally shot, admits there’s more going on beneath the surface when he tells Amelia the truth about Richie’s mistake:

“My issue isn’t that you made the mistake. My issue is that you don’t seem to have learnt anything from it.”

It’s a gut-punch moment — and it pushes Richie to a life-changing decision. With no job, no reference, and rent he can’t pay, Richie decides Summer Bay is no longer where he belongs.

“I’ve spoken to the real estate agent. I’m moving back home,” he tells Abby, leaving her heartbroken.

Their goodbye is one of the most emotional scenes of the week. “This really is it, isn’t it?” Abby asks, before the two share a bittersweet hug for old times’ sake.

Meanwhile, Rory’s own private battle is finally coming into the light. Behind his calm exterior, he’s been suffering in silence — reliving the shooting every time he closes his eyes.

“I see the gun, hear the shot, blood on my hand. And then I see Richie’s face,” Rory confesses to Amelia, admitting the flashbacks have made it impossible to sleep or feel safe.

It’s a raw, powerful scene that shows just how deeply trauma can hide behind a strong face — and it’s clear Rory’s road to healing is only just beginning.

On a lighter note — or so it seems — Tane has a big romantic surprise planned for Bella: a five-star mountain retreat, booked and ready to go. But timing couldn’t be worse. Just as he reveals the plan, Bella gets the news that her son Archie is finally coming home.

Torn between her heart and her son, Bella chooses Archie — and Tane is left disappointed, even after trying to hide it.

Things get tense fast when accusations fly about Bella’s ex being the real reason for her hesitation:

“Sure you’re not just dropping everything for your ex?” Tane asks.

“This has got nothing to do with him,” Bella fires back — but the damage is done, and Tane storms off hurt and frustrated.

With Richie gone, Rory quietly battling his demons, and Tane and Bella on shaky ground just as Archie’s dad returns to town, Summer Bay’s emotional rollercoaster is far from over.

Will Rory ever fully heal from that night? Can Tane handle Bella’s ex being back in the picture? And will Richie’s story in Summer Bay really be over for good?

One thing’s certain — this is only the beginning of a whole new wave of Bay drama. 👀
